Cathedral Rock Hike

My personal battle with heights and Cathedral Rock

A few years back I came out to Sedona with the Ackermans. While we went on a bunch of hikes together, I brought camera, tripod and heavy ass backpack. On one of the most majestic hikes we went on was Cathedral Rock. It’s one of the most photographed rock formation in Sedona. We hiked for about 2 hours through fields, rivers, single track trails, up and over huge rock formations and when we got to the final climb up Cathedral… I backed out. There was a portion that got the best of me. So I stayed back while the others went up. I was pissed at myself that I could overcome my fear of heights. That was almost 7 years ago and it has stuck with me from the day on until yesterday.

Yesterday, me and my tribe of vanlife friends, The Chosen Family, made plans to climb Cathedral Rock. Little did they know about my past attempt last time. This time I wasn’t about to have my fears have the best of me. I made a pact with myself that I would make it to the top while overcoming my fear. Check out my video of me conquering Cathedral Rock AND getting a photo of myself standing on a ledge overlooking beautiful Sedona.
